Kark — The Slave
The Modern Slavery that I’m overwhelmed to understand.
If there was a political party that represents the worker issues in my country, I would like to join one — not a gimmick party. Just the relevant one.

Kark is the true heir from one of the fine villages in the Scandinavian Viking Era. Instead of becoming Chieftain, He was “somehow” trapped becoming a Slave. His brother, Olav — the current Chieftain, doesn’t know about his true older brother becoming his own Slave — the favorite one.

Ever since The Great Magna Carta had been signed, The World never gonna be actually free, but there was progressing tho. The only good thing from that moment was there be an actual Law to provide safety for Human beings from each other threat. The Literal Ancient Slavery abolished for every country in this world was on 2007 as Mauritania, the last country, made It a crime to practice Slavery. The event means Mauritania still doing slavery stuff while Elon Musk had done such a Scifi project with his company Tesla Motors and SolarCity.
Dave Chapelle is one of the great comics of his generation. He is at the top of the list of comedians who could have their own special show at Subscription Platform Show Era. He’s the star. The thing that could make money not just for himself, but also for the group of people who form a company and sell his show online. His comment on Comedy Central and HBO Contract: “We never really get a fair contract because we are the object of it. Not the subject. the law officer is just like they befriend each other and communicate with their law language. We don’t know what is the contract suppose to mean. It’s a trap”.
I mean even the G.O.A.T cannot do much about it. The modern slavery instrument’s called a contract.
In April 2021, one of the most confusing times for European Football (also for the world), the European Super League announced their own competition alongside “The Twelve” rich clubs from England, Spain, and Italy. Long story short, It was the movement to break the monopoly of UEFA from all “the weird” event and competitions they had held. ESL versus UEFA was on the headline everywhere talking about the elite claiming the football. They never talk about the player who apparently had a “contract” with the club. The player cannot enter the war although they are the ones who must play on the field. What an irony.

The Indonesian Modern Slavery
The International Labour Organization (ILO) estimates that, by their definitions, over 40 million people are in some form of slavery today. in Indonesia, we never get the right data or maybe the kind of data that could lead us to the slavery state. Dominggus Elcid Li (2017) wrote about the modern slavery at Nusa Tenggara Timur. Li stated that human trafficking is one form of modern slavery.
A lot of people from the Nusa Tenggara Archipelago went abroad to be blue-collar workers or domestic servants in another Muslims or Melayu nation. Years after the first voyage, some sick people could get more fortune by selling underage workers. It really could be demonstrated by one of Norseman's scenes. Every raid to the west was always about finding new slaves to be captured — but made it more than 1000 years later.
Worker’s issues never become such a mainstream topic before we are turning adults. The market of workers tends to have more supply than demand. It made the competition unhealthy and marginalized a lot of people.
Another problem is the skill set and the job that are available don’t even match but still, they keep recruiting. The job and the degree are like the earth and the sky. The problem keeps happening for years until now. There are a lot of “potential” workers wasting their time and burdening the budget for doing hardly anything. Some new workers maybe just spoiled enough to do the clerical job in the first place, but sometimes it was just a matter of time until the chance comes. The same thing about the old and new guys is they didn’t really match the expertise for the work. They are just lucky enough to be there at the office.
The Outsourcing — The Jack of All Trades
If we want to be one of the skilled workers who work at the office (doing office jobs), we need to go to a particular school. Sometimes It is expensive enough just to get into the intern program. Some potential workers could be in a queue for a whole year or try hard enough to get a “mediocre” job at the end of two years struggling. For that one-two years, they bounce back to the family job. Helping relatives than got reasonable money but not in the field that they crazily struggle with before. It feels like the investment doesn’t get paid. We tried for nothing.
On the other hand, The recruiter cannot hire a lot of workers. If they hire a bunch, they need to consider another scheme that could be “oppressed” the new worker’s rights (salary, health insurance, tax, facilities, etc). A lot of situations anyway. It doesn’t matter because the new workers are the youth that fulls of new energy. So, be it. They contracted the new guy.
Here’s the thing about the so-called “contracted worker” or “outsourcing worker.” This scheme is suitable for the youth that has versatile quality. For the one who wants to try something unscheduled time off work, It’s good. For the one who wants to study, It’s also worked. The problem comes when the workers need to do the work outside their job desk. It was never literally written in the contract. There is a grey spot that only the recruiter and their law enforcement know. As youth workers, they also got the burden of being more responsibilities. It’s sealed. It is like the river and they are the sea, where all the river’s streams end. It’s always the new youth worker because they cannot say “No.”
In a nutshell, cheap workers with no intention to rebel cause they are new and legally right to the recruiter for demanding the maximum capacity of their worker. The workers have no choice but sacrificing their own liberty of choosing the normal they deserve. The mainstream characteristic of slavery is deprived of personal liberty.
Boomers control the resources of this country. They dictate how the world work. The youth rarely get the chance to prove to act and to create the country they always wanted. At the same time, everybody just forgets about the children — one away generation. The real owner of the future. All together never be on the sync. Always pushing their own ego. People are just too polite to blame each other openly. If the world is ending soon, It will always be about whining the fate to be “the damn generation” or “the chosen” for each generation.
UU Cipta Kerja is one of the realities that the workers need to face now. It was a long-term kind of rule. It’s not gonna work right after its legal day. It intentionally generates investments come in and increase the demand for workers. It is somehow good, especially for the foreigner and everybody who have money. But It is a big problem for a lot of workers who struggle with their daily problems. Whether the policy is about the short or long term, the workers still gonna live it miserably. The long term answer doesn’t really matter because either way, still, the workers always the one who needs to adjust their own conditions — not the government.
In my ivory tower opinion, The real solution to this event utopia-cally is to create an urban secondary becoming more reliable to this kind of skilled workers. For the youth workers, make it cool and swag or just youth-friendly. Making the 500.000 population land attractive enough to the youth. That is why local youth programs are so important.
Kark had a tattoo on his back. The tattoo he can’t see in the era of no mirror. The tattoo that could make him a Chieftain. Hildur, the Chief Wife, erase that tattoo hurriedly after her husband told her about the “story” about his brother's tattoo — the sign of the true heir.
Kark maybe has an absolute reason for becoming a Chieftain, but He is happy enough becoming the Slave. He chooses the slavery life when another thing could happen to him. The good one. The thing that Kark doesn't know is “He is the true heir.” He simply has no access to know that fate.
Even though I have no access to know my fate. I need to gather the comparative advantage that I possess, make money out of it, and carry my life on.
